Sessions will cover various audition topics/questions, specifically concerning auditions that require prepared monologues.

Each session (A- May 21st & B- May 25th) will cover the same material designed to inform both the theatre novice and the stage veteran. The first session will be offered by Venice Theatre Lead Instructor and veteran director/actor Brad Wages, and the second session by Venice Theatre’s Artistic Director, Benny Sato Ambush. Participants may attend either or both.

The instructors will outline the reasons for auditioning with monologues, and will cover such topics as:

  • How to find out about auditions.
  • How to find monologues appropriate for you.
  • Slating/ First Impressions
  • What to wear
  • What to do during your monologue audition
  • Various do’s and don’ts.
  • Questions/Answers

** These sessions are informational and not a ‘hands-on’ coaching session for the participants.

Sessions will cover various audition topics/questions, specifically concerning auditions that require prepared monologues.

Sharpen your skills! Audition Bootcamp for grades 5-12

Calendar Jun 13, 2022 at 8:30 am, runs for 1 week

Sharpen your audition skills! Scott Keys, Vanessa Russo and Michelle Kasanofsky will get the most out of you in this intensive one-week audition prep class for grades 5-12. At the end of the week you'll have a song and monologue in hand to use for future auditions, and will have learned dance audition combinations.

Calendar Jul 9, 2022 at 1 pm

Benny Sato Ambush, VT's Artistic Director, will cover a range of topics including how to handle fear/nerves, getting your mind where it should be, working with readers, and various "how tos" when auditioning with sides (short scenes from the script). All participants will have a chance to work. They will also roleplay as readers, directors, casting directors, and producers. Audition side material will be provided.

Sharpen your skills! Audition Bootcamp for grades 3-4

Calendar Jul 25, 2022 at 8:30 am, runs for 1 week

Sharpen your audition skills! Charley Riggs, Becky Holahan and Michelle Kasanofsky will get the most out of you in this intensive one-week audition prep class for grades 3-4. At the end of the week you'll have a song and monologue in hand to use for future auditions, and will have learned dance audition combinations.

Mastering the vocal audition

with Michelle Kasanofsky

Calendar Aug 2, 2022 at 5:30 pm, runs for 6 weeks

In this 6-week in-person vocal class for adults, Michelle will help you get the best out of your singing audition. Class will include one-on-one time. There will be a mock audition on the last day of class.

There will be no class on August 16th and 23rd.  The instructor will schedule make up classes.
